Reflection on Greeting Video

I feel like Lizzy and I did a good job on adding our personalities to the video, making sure everything was grammatically correct, and continuing to interact with each other in our dialogue. We tried to incorporate sound, but ultimately it was a rush to finish. What I saw that I liked in other videos was Lizzy and I had actually talked about inserting pictures into our video like Denise and Laura did. I also wish we could have made our openin title a little more intersting like Cassie and Kayla did. I really liked these ideas because they just add more for the eye and keep people's attention. We specifially filmed our parts seperately, imported our pictures, imported our video, edited to the best of our abilities on both Premeire Pro and After Effects, then we tried to add whatever we felt necessary to our video to add some pizzaz if you will. I helped Lizzy by editing as much as I could, typing up the script, and giving support. Lizzy helped me by supporting us, making sure we got everything done, and editing as much as she could. She also helped with the titles. If we could do this over, we would probably add more, finish our citations (we didn't add the music or information), we wouldn't wear black (we look transparent), and we would also see about adding in those pictures. We also would practice our script more and finish writing it out instead of trying to read off the paper in our hands.

Green Screen

This is our green screen workshop. When working with a green screen it is important to consider what picture to use in the background and what lighting to use. While trying to eliminate the green screen, the lighting could cast shadows and cause problems. I personally felt that it was easier to use After Effects when eliminating the green screen. For editing I feel more comfortable using Premeire Pro.

Final Draft

The comments we found most helpful were the ones that had suggestions and pointed out all the things they liked specifically.
The changes we actually did were changing three of the pictures and adding in a few more and adding the bibliography.
We probably would film a bit more if we had the time, and get a few shots to be in the examples of types of cyberbullies.
If we had the chance to do the project all over again, we would probably just add in more film instead of so many pictures.
We came to find out how much of a time consuming process this can be and just how hard it can be to work together under stress.
We feel that we did the best we could do, and we are pretty pleased with the final product.

Rough Draft

This is the rough draft of our cyberbullying video. We were actually pretty pleased with how it turned out. We were proud of the voice over and the transitions. We read through the comments and read their suggestions. Some suggested that we add in more about sexting, but we dismissed that and decided we would focus on cyberbullying for now. For the most part we just need to change a few pictures and add the bibliography. Thank you to everyone who helped and thank you to those who commented.

titletemplate_Tapia

This is an example of a template title, which means you use a template and type in the text you want. You might use this kind of title when telling viewers certain information about the video or clip, such as who is being interviewed or where the clip is taking place!

Title2overlay_Tapia

This is an example of an overlay title, which means it will be right in the video overlaying the clip itself. It will beright in your clip and lay itself over whatever is in the clip. You might use this kind of title when captioning things or when quickly pointing something out in the clip.

Title1Tapia

This is an example of a default still title, which means this title does not move it sits in the middle of the screen and does not show up in front of the clip at all. You might use this kind of title at the beginning of your video or the very end.

Lifting and Extracting

A simple cut in the timeline means you cut out a clip from the video. When you cut, the other clips in the timeline leave a gap where the clip once was.
A ripple edit is when you cut a clip out of the video as well, but do not want to leave a gap between the other clips. You do this by right clicking on the clip and selecting "ripple delete". When you ripple delete, the other clips to the right of the deleted clip move in to get rid of the gap the clip left behind.
Lifting and extracting are two ways to cut clips out of your video at one time. To do this, you create in and out points on the clip you wish to lift or extract and then push the corresponding button on the program panel.
Lifting is like cutting (you only take the clip out), while extracting is like ripple delete, in terms of what happens to the other clips in the timeline.
This is an example of an extracting edit.  I decided to extract the two clips where we did because it made the most sense to Alicia & I.

Overlay

This is an example of an overlay edit.  An overlay edit places a clipin the middle of another clip.   To do this, you drag the other clip directly into the other clip so that you do not move anything over.  I decided to overlay the 2nd clip where I did because to me it made sense, she would smile & be happy after her first successful jump.

Baler Interview Reflection

I think I am getting better at setting smoother in and out points. I did a good job of picking video clips to use for my project. I'm happy with the way I ordered them in my video. I should have spent a little more time really checking the flow of the video. If I could do this project over, I would add a little more of my own personality to the video. On my next project I need to remember to use the timeline feature of Premiere Pro more efficiently. On my next project I would like to learn how to play with transition effects and text effects.

Intro

Reflection
This final product shows that I have learned how to edit film clips. I can successfully set in points and set out points for clips. I can also add a title and export media. I would like to work a bit quicker and get to know the program better so that I don't feel stuck as much. I did basic editing and my partner helped me by making sure that we both knew what was happening and she also helped by allowing us to use her clip and she also asked Dr. Achterman for help while i tried to figure out what was going wrong with the program. We now know basic editing skills and how to handle a few problems in the program.

Our Group's Discussion About Values.com

Our group liked the video "Purse" best. It was about being honest and doing the right thing. However, the value we chose to make our own video of was "reaching out", which was done with the video "Cafeteria".
